I know that I promised not to post anything depressing on my blog, but I have to put this down. I suffer with severe chronic depression. I have been suffering with this for over 20+ years. back when I was young and just starting college is where I think it began. I have always been self conscious about my looks, and weight. So much so that I used to get up earlier than everyone else in college to take a shower because I was so ashamed of how I looked. I had gotten up enough courage to tell this girl that I loved how I felt. Well turns out she did not feel the same about me. That hurt like a knife stabbed in my gut. From there various ups and downs over the years, through several jobs and three cities, I end up here. Severely depressed, marriage falling apart, and a son with ADHD, a mood disorder, and anger issues. We have appointments with psychiatrists, psychologists, several types of medication and now coming up is occupational therapy. All that and I still feel like that young guy back in college with the knife in his gut.
I don’t know anymore…

Yep everyone has done it. From Anderson Cooper on CNN, to Wil Wheaton on his blog, everyone has done a recap of 2009 and either cronicled things that happened in the news, to things that happened in their life. As much as I would like to relay everything that has happened to me in 2009, I will not do that. I told someone that I would not be making anymore depressing posts.
So here in a nutshell is a mini-review of 2009…
- I started working as Operations Manager for a small LAN center here in Durham
- Started back to playing tabletop D&D again (4th edition)
- Started thinking about opening up my own men’s clothing store (still on the back burner)
- Left my job as Operations Manager
- Working on plans for opening up my own LAN center ( still in my head, nothing on paper yet.)
- Went on a cruise to the Bahamas. ( went on Royal Caribbean, I highly recommend this fleet. the boat was AWESOME!!)
- I became a great-uncle!!!
- I finally got a laptop! (that is what I am using now to make my posts. Flexibility FTW!)
- Started playing Champions Online. (Superheroes FTW!)
- Found out a friend of mine has cancer AGAIN (WTF), and has only 6 months to live (major bummer)
- And finally, made a commitment to blog everyday for Nablopomo. (if I can get a whole month under my belt, I can write more.)
So there it is, some of the highlights of 2009 in my life. Thanks for reading…

Entrepreneurship,
It’s what makes the world go ’round. It is not the big companies that do it. It’s the small businesses that keep the country going. I want to jump into that pool and swim with the fishes, but I cannot decide what type of business I want to run. My initial thought was a mens big and tall clothing store, but going over what I need to do, It would take too long to get things together and then get the resources together to make it work.
Maybe something a little more manageable. Like mens accessories or maybe something else. I don’t know yet.
Maybe a gaming center…lol
