Yes that is right. The new MMO to play right now is Champions Online. Based on the tabletop RPG Champions by Hero Games. I have never played the RPG, but I have seen it in stores back in the day and I think I even bought a couple of the supplements when I was running a DC Heroes Campaign or two for character ideas and settings. From what I remember, the rules system was very hard, but the characters were brilliant.
Now in 2009, I have left WoW for Champions Online and I am having so much fun. The game was designed by Cryptic Studios, the guys behind City of Heroes/City of Villains. I love the game so much. The character creation is like no other. It far surpasses what they did with City of Heroes. The only gripes I have is the power sets. There could be more because as is seen in cartoons and comics, superheroes have many different types of powers. They could have an ability like growth to make your hero as tall as Grond. Or you could have super stretchy limbs like Mr. Fantastic. Or trying to make a Batman-like character, he has martial arts as well as gadgets (but no guns) to fight crime. I am sure in the tabletop rpg they have those types of powers. I guess it would be hard to program some of them in. I am not sure because I am not a programmer…lol.
