Yes that is right, a girl had her account suspended from Xbox LIVE because she had her sexual orientation on her profile. She had on her profile that she was a lesbian and several people harassed her and called her names. In an interview she stated,
“My account was suspended because I had said in my profile that I was a lesbian. I was harassed by several players, ‘chased’ to different maps/games to get away from their harassment. They followed me into the games and told all the other players to turn me in because they didn’t want to see that crap or their kids to see that crap.
As if xbox live is really appropriate for kids anyways! My account was suspended and xbox live did nothing to solve this, but instead said others found it offensive.
Today I received a message from another gamer calling me a fag. I am a lesbian, so they aren’t too smart if they cant get their anti-gay slurs right.
Microsoft does nothing to stop this or prevent it, but instead sides with the homophobes. No one will help me get the word out about Microsoft’s anti-gay policy. Not even the HRC who says Microsoft has a positive image with them. Not to me it doesn’t!”

Rupert Murdoch, Chairman of the New York Post has apologised for the printing of a cartoon in where police have shot a chimp dead and one of the officers says “they’ll have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill.” Now if that is not a slap in the face or what? Long has the association of monkeys, gorillas, and chimps been intertwined with the description of African- Americans. It has gone on longer than I have been alive. At first the cartoonist and paper said that the cartoon is not racist, it was meant to mock President Obama’s legislation (the $787B stimulus package).
WTF? Are you serious? I cannot believe that they can sit there and say that. I know at some point, they have to either have heard the correlation made or used it themselves. Now with the amount of backlash that has come up surrounding this, Murdoch, and the paper in conjunction, is apologizing for the “mistake” and now they will seek to be more attuned to the sensitivities of their community in the future.
Lets just hope so…

Gov. Bobby Jindal of Lousiana on Friday became the first governor to officially refuse part of the federal stimulus money, saying he would reject a portion of expanded unemployment benefits that would eventually require his state to raise taxes on businesses.
At least five other Republican governors are saying they also may spurn portions of the federal payout.
That’s raising objections from lawmakers, mayors and other critics who say the governors are putting political ideology before the interest of their constituents who need help.
Jindal is widely considered a strong contender in the Republican Party’s 2012 presidential sweepstakes. A rising political star, he’s been tapped to give the GOP response to President Obama’s address to Congress Tuesday.
I personally think this is all political posturing. The Republicans are upset at not getting a majority in the Senate and/or House, plus they lost the White House. Jindal cares more about his bid in 2012 for President more than his constituents’ long-term interests?
It’s time to put such petty things behind us and fix what has happened to the country.
